Message from the Principal!

Dr. Marian Leverette

Dear Ankara EHS Community,

Let's greet the new week with a warm welcome as the weather starts to warm up this spring. March 20th ushers in the first day of spring, and I hope you all are as excited as I am for the new season. Our students had great fun with their Pi Day competition! Be sure to ask them who won and how many numbers they can recite. It's always wonderful to see their enthusiasm and participation.

I thank everyone who participated in our Ankara EHS webinar and virtual Meet-and-Greet Meeting. We had a great turnout!

If you missed it, you can review the recorded webinar through the link that was emailed for more information about our school.
With only one more week until the end of the quarter, I encourage all students and parents to check ASPEN to ensure there is no
missing work and that all makeup work has been completed before the break. Don't delay, do it today! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am always here to answer your questions.

"Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and, above all, confidence in ourselves. We must believe
that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained." – Marie Curie

Warm regards,
Dr. Marian Leverette

Grade 4 Round Table

As parents, we often marvel at the milestones our children achieve as they grow. One such milestone that Grade 4 students experience is learning to express their ideas, collaborate with peers, and present their knowledge meaningfully. This quarter, your child’s classroom was buzzing with excitement as they engaged in a round table discussion, showcasing their newfound understanding of communities and their impact on the world. Ms. Zermeno, the fourth-grade teacher, teamed up with our School ISS, Ms. Tina Lara, and the MLP Teacher, Ms. Gina Cross, and facilitated this week's roundtable discussion. The round table discussion was about the Northeast Region in the USA.  Now, they’re applying their knowledge, discussing their findings with peers, and connecting it all to the bigger picture—how regions shape and are shaped by the world around them.

Family Science Day

Parent and child in Science day!

On March 15th, Ankara EHS Middle School science teacher Ms. Janette Boland hosted an incredible Family Science Day that brought students and families together for a journey into the wonders of science. Students and their parents from all grades were invited to the event.

The event featured hands-on experiments, exciting workshops, and engaging demonstrations that sparked curiosity and creativity in both kids and adults alike.  Families explored scientific concepts, solved challenges, and discovered the magic of learning together.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a memorable success! Let’s continue to nurture our curiosity and passion for science—there’s always more to uncover.

PI Day at AEHS

Celebrating Pi Day in school can be a fun and educational experience for students of all ages. At AEHS, Math Secondary Teachers Ms. Beth Ann Matar, Mr. Anthony Peters, and Ms. Senem Kadioglu organized activities. Students participated in challenges to memorize their digits and solve real-world problems. Sixth-grade students were involved in hands-on activities to measure the circumference of objects, bringing math to life and making learning engaging and exciting. It was a perfect way to foster a love for mathematics!
