Dr. Marian Leverette

Biography

Dr. Leverette's professional educational journey began in 1994. Before joining Ankara Elementary High School, she held numerous educational and administrative positions, serving as an instructional leader from the elementary to collegiate levels for over 20 years in Florida, Virginia, California, and Rhode Island. She pioneered computer fundamentals and business information systems courses at Roger Williams University and Hampton University. As the first U.S. Navy Mid-Atlantic Regional School Liaison, she advocated for over 90,000 military-connected students (K-12) and their families in the Northeast. Dr. Leverette joined DoDEA in 2012, teaching at Bahrain Elementary and Seoul American Elementary School,  assistant principal and principal at Yokota High School.

Dr. Leverette's leadership experience is extensive. She has served as a CSI team member and chair, College and Career Readiness Math Lead for Seoul American Elementary School, assistant principal at a Florida gifted magnet elementary school, and District 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant Manager. She has led numerous community service organizations, school improvement programs, and community events for over 30 years.

Dr. Leverette served her country for ten years as an active-duty naval officer, research engineer, computer security officer, and Helicopter Wing administrative department head in the U.S. Navy before transitioning to a career in education. Her spouse is a retired U.S. Naval Captain and currently a professor of military studies at the US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. They have one daughter, a graduate of Florida State University and currently performing on Broadway in NY City.

Dr. Leverette holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Mechanical Engineering from New York Institute of Technology, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Jacksonville University, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida, an Education Specialist in Educational Leadership and Administration from The George Washington University and a Doctorate in Education Administration and Policy from Gwynedd Mercy University.

Dr. Leverette has consistently played a vital role in creating a safe academic environment where students are inspired to learn and grow, guided by the school's vision. She is now delighted to be part of the team of educational professionals at Ankara Elementary High School, providing instructional leadership to teachers and staff to ensure excellent instruction for all.
