Elementary Students Celebrate Gratitude and Diversity at Annual Thanksgiving Feast
A day of food, friendship, and festive fun brought our school community together.
Event Highlights
On Friday, November 21, 2025, our elementary students gathered for the Annual Thanksgiving Feast—a celebration of gratitude, diversity, and community. The cafeteria buzzed with excitement as students enjoyed a potluck of traditional dishes from families’ home nations, making the day a genuine cultural exchange.
Special Contributions
The event was made extra special thanks to the senior class and their sponsor, Ms. Christina Sykes, who generously donated their time to create festive turkey centerpieces and colorful placemats. These thoughtful touches brought joy to the tables and showed how older students can make a big difference for younger ones.
Our elementary teachers—Ms. Chezulu, Ms. Francois, Mr. Kum, Ms. Weaver, Ms. Ransom, Ms. Giambanco, Ms. Thomson, and Mr. Casciani—worked tirelessly to ensure every detail was perfect. From organizing potluck contributions to helping students feel included, their efforts made the day run smoothly.
Dr. Marian Leverette summed up the spirit of the day perfectly:
“This event truly showcased the spirit of collaboration and community that makes our school so special. I am thankful for the teamwork and dedication that made this celebration memorable for our students.”
Student Voices:
- “I loved trying food from different countries—it was like traveling without leaving school!” – 3rd grader
- “The turkey decorations were so cool! It felt like a real Thanksgiving party.” – 1st grader
- “My favorite part was sitting with my friends and sharing our family’s special dish.” – 5th grader
After the official elementary event, secondary students were invited to enjoy leftovers and the dessert table, creating another moment of connection across grade levels. Among the most popular dishes were Dr. Leverette’s famous deviled eggs, Kazakhstan honey cake, Uzbekistan pilaf, Ms. Giambanco’s jumbo chocolate chip cookies, and Tajik samsa—a true feast of flavors that everyone loved.
The smiles on students’ faces said it all—this was more than a feast; it was a moment of connection and gratitude. Thank you to everyone who contributed time, energy, and creativity. We can’t wait to make next year’s feast even better!
