Students from Ankara EHS recently took part in a school trip to Aqua Vega Aquarium, one of Ankara’s popular educational attractions. The visit gave them the chance to see marine life up close, learn about aquatic ecosystems, and enjoy a fun scavenger hunt designed by their teachers.

Discovering the Aquarium

The day began with a guided walk through the aquarium’s exhibits. Students were amazed by the variety of fish, rays, and sharks swimming in the large tanks. The underwater tunnel was a favorite spot, where everyone could watch sea creatures glide overhead. Smaller exhibits featured axolotls, seahorses, and reptiles, sparking curiosity and plenty of questions. Teachers encouraged students to notice how animals in different habitats show diversity, connecting directly to what they’ve been studying in class.

Scavenger Hunt Adventure

To make the trip interactive, teachers organized a scavenger hunt. Students worked in small groups to find answers to clues scattered throughout the aquarium. Tasks included spotting a fish with stripes, identifying the name of a shark species, and locating the glowing jellyfish display. Some clues asked students to think about how animals’ external parts—like fins, shells, or tails—help them survive, while others highlighted internal structures such as gills. These observations tied neatly to lessons about how plants and animals use their structures to meet their needs.

A Meaningful Experience

The trip to Aqua Vega Aquarium gave Ankara EHS students a chance to learn outside the classroom in a hands-on way. Between the fascinating exhibits and the scavenger hunt challenge, the day was filled with curiosity, collaboration, and fun. Students not only enjoyed the experience but also practiced skills like observing diversity, recognizing adaptations, and constructing arguments about how structures support survival and growth. It was a reminder that education can be both informative and enjoyable when paired with real-world experiences.
